If you have a dog that came to you without registration or vaccination records, start by visiting a local veterinarian to get a health check and core shots. Then contact your city's animal services office to ask about microchipping and licensing through a temporary owner affidavit. Many shelters offer low-cost clinics to set up basic paperwork, so you can prove your dog is yours without needing previous documents.
